Does performing create unbearable pressure for you?
Or, does it create almost unbearable pressure? The kind where you’re forcing yourself to bear it?
Maybe you think it has to be this way. It’s just how the classical music world is built. We all want to do a good job.
Maybe you think it will never change. Or, it will take way too long to change it.
Maybe you think you’re not the one to change it.
Well, maybe it does have to be this way. It might never change, or you might not be the one to change it.
I’m not going to tell you “you’ll never know until you try!”
But, I will ask a few questions:
- If you could wave a magic wand and change things, what would it look like?
- What would that feel like? Is it at all inspiring?
- Is there anything uncomfortable about these questions?
Is this a place you don’t normally allow yourself to go?
